Hi-Lift or Jackall

i use a jackel stowed on the vehicle and a HIlift for teaching on the sole grounds the hilift was 5ft and jackel 4ft when i bought them. they are the only two ladder jacks i would use. Cheers

what size then for a 110 on 265 85 16?
Should I be going for 4' or 5'? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Hello, I've never heard about 265 85 16 ![]() Whatever, the problem is not from your tyres but from your shock absorbers. I had rear +4'' shock absorbers on my 90 and my 4ft hi-lift was too short. Like "Mad Cow" I use Hi-lift ![]() |

Well if you have those tyres that's nearly 34" diameter
Are you sure they're not 265/75 R 16? which are about 31.6" (near identical to 235/85 which I have). The tallest truck I have had to date was a Disco on 245/75 R 16 which is a diameter of 30.5" although it did also have a 2" lift. My 4 foot Hi-Lift was just about adequete but it was easier to carry inside a Disco than a 5 foot one. And if you are going to store it inside the vehicle, make sure it is well bolted down! The best thing to do with a high lift jack is Throw the fooking thing away, as far as you can. Get an air jack and be safe.

That's right,
Surely safer, but hi-lift has lot of kits like to jack just one wheel to put a waffle in the sand. You don't have to dig, sand or mud, when you are stuck. But Andrews is right, hi-lift is dangerous. |

I have and use air-jack and hilift. They have both there uses. An airjack is more funerable but a hilift is more dangerous.
I use the airjack when lifting is needed for changing wheels etc or in sand. But if I want to get out of ruts I prefer the hilift to jack the front or rear up and move it to next to the ruts. It might be possible with a Air-jack at the front but that is depending on your front skidplate etc. You prefer to have a sort off flat area to put the airjack under.
At the rear specially if you have no fuel tank guard and you have a moveable tow hook it's not nice to put your air-jack under. So it's a sometimes yes and sometimes no depending on the vehicle. With my camel it was a front no and rear yes. As I didn't have a towhook standard and had a strong tank guard.
