Brilliant Mal - many thanks
Can't wait to get out the enormous masonry bit I never use Steve - yep, the blank arrived and looks spot on. At the moment I am (trying to) do some kind of technical comparison of each mod before and after, to give some proper answers about what you can expect. Ran with the EGR valve unplugged 3 days last week - identical trips into work with motorway and city driving. Driving into work, I'm measuring noise level at 100 km/h, maximum speed, maximum power (according to Scangauge) and then, back home, fuel consumption whilst driving like a granny (bit more hit-and-miss because traffic can vary). My objective feeling so far is that the engine is softer than usual i.e. quieter across the range. Next week the plug goes back in and test again. If I am certain there is a noticeable difference, I'll fit the blank and test again... or I might just fit it anyway. You're not because when Mal's cat arrives I intend to de-cat and test again Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Mal's posting you his cat is he On a more serious note. It sounds a very good plan. It's difficult to tell with out any true way of comparison what difference has been made.l $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Brilliant. Thank you all for the replies. I think I may try modifying the standard pipe.

Mal's will soon be ex-pat and ex-cat
Paddocks are sending me the correct manifold gasket which I will use as a template to make a slip-in blank. Bad photo (only one Google could find!) but looks like ss: looking good :) Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Tell someone you love them today because life is short. That (and many others) is the big question, and there's only one way to find out
Any idea how I might objectively measure it? I've got a while to plan before I can put the de-cat to the test. Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
