Ze - The blank you got was one of those one's that you can slip in if I remember rightly. If so a lot better then because it's a Censored to get at and mess about with gaskets. What size hole are you going for? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Exactly - I just hope the old gasket doesn't get in the way (I think there is one). The hole was pre-drilled at 10mm and the supplier seems to think it will be fine. I believe it may be a bit small but it's a good start Thumbs Up

My other worry is leaks, but everyone seems to think it won't be a problem, even without gasket/s (fingers crossed)... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Matt - I wouldn't worry about leaks if I was you providing the bolts are tightened to the correct Torque setting. The LR Genuine gaskets are just like a very thin plate I would say 0.5mm SS so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'll see if I can fish out the one's I took off and post a picture for you to see tomorrow. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

From your photos, it doesn't look like you disconnected the pickup pipe from the manifold? That's the end I'm playing with and I wonder what to do with the gasket I'll find there. Probably can't get it out unless I can either pull the EGR pipe away from the manifold enough, or get the studs out. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Your right there Matt but AFAIK the gasket there will be similar to the EGR Gaskets. To be honest unless you can take the EGR out I can't quite see how your going to get at where you want to get. Confused Mal did it so again he knows best Bow down Also I was under the impression that the blanks fitted on the inlet side to the actual EGR valve it' self. Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree?.... $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Now I'm a bit concerned - I thought my plate was like this from AndrewS:

But you're right - with a 10mm hole it's probably at the valve end Confused Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I'm not sure about that Matt. I think you'll find it's the one here:

2nd picture down. Between EGR cooler and the EGR valve. Loosen two bolts and slip between. On my picture of the removed EGR the mating face to the right the blank would go there I'd have thought.

If you had the exact measurement s of the new blank you could tell exactly as it would match an existing gasket. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Oh Censored ing wonderful - the plate I got doesn't Censored ing match any of those dimensions Evil or Very Mad

It appears it will fit every other "standard" Puma 2.4 Tdci but not a Defender Big Cry

I suppose I must scheme further, along the lines of AndrewS...

At least I know it's worth doing Wink

Incidentally, 5 Aussie dealers have got back to me and all of them say there is no cat-less downpipe listed. There is a Euro4 and a Euro2 but they both have cats (one of them also reminded me of legal issues Whistle ) Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Another thing to bear in mind Matt is that my Puma being a 2007 will be slightly different to yours at 2011. (Or so i understand) I believe that some of the EGR bolts are slightly different but other than that pretty much the same. Even the new EGR on mine was different to the original to look at but does the same job and is the correct part. One hopes an improved design too. Whistle Trouble is with E-bay a lot of them are for the Transit 2.4 ect and the EGR will be for FORD the EGR for a Defender which will be a LR part. You really need to look for a blank for the Defender 2.4 specific AND / OR ask for exact dimensions and compare to a Genuine gasket you can then find out what will fit. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Already on it Thumbs Up
If AndrewS' version works (blanking at the exhaust manifold) I will follow that route - its easier to get to and therefore a simpler mod for people in future.
LR Australia are helping me with some other stuff, so the project is still underway Very Happy Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
