Ordering... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

By the way - huge thanks to everyone for posting your photos and your PMs - as I am slightly isolated here and haven't seen these lights "in the flesh", I couldn't have made a decision without you Bow down Bow down Bow down

I thought they were initially a legitimate part too! Apparently not!!!! Taken from March this year....

I know this is an old thread but in case anyone else experiences any issue with moisture ingress....The lenses of the JW Speakers have a very thin rubber seal around the concealed edge and are spot-sealed at three points around the circumference. The lenses themselves are replaceable and cost about £25-£30 each should you break one. In your situation I would have suggested removing the lamp, take it indoors and perhaps placing it on a radiator thoroughly drying it out, then attempting to run a thin bead of sealant (would suggest marine grade Sikaflex 29i) around the edge of the lens without removing the lens from the lamp. This should prevent any further moisture ingress.

We do not recomend the replacement of the lenses nor offer them as a spare part. Any "user" modifications which involved removal ore replacement of the lens would not be covered under warranty.

If there is concern over breakage then we can supply Polycarbonate lensed lamps

Same question..... Cool

Daniele I'll answer shall I?.....

Let's just scotch any rumours/bad feelings innuendoes here before they start. It is ALL my fault that replacement lenses are no longer available. My lights were purchased via the forum, (not from Tim) I had the misfortune of having a lens break on me and was flabbergasted to learn that lenses were NOT an item that can be bought separately and if you have a breakage you are expected to purchase a replacement lamp assembly complete at £450 (old price given) per unit.

Tim bailed me out despite having no obligation to do so and promised me a replacement lens at a cost of £25. I ordered two just in case and two stainless steel surround retaining rings. Due to numerous circumstances over two months later I was still waiting and such was my impatience I then e-mailed J W Speaker in the United States direct, something in hindsight I should NOT have done. They in turn sent my query back to Tim as he is the UK distributor and they then knew that Tim was ordering/obtaining lenses.

My actions caused the 'backdoor supply' of replacement lenses by Tim to be firmly shut for which I apologise. I am still very grateful to Tim for still supplying my replacement lenses of which I still have one spare.

I have had the misfortune of having lost two windscreens and two (one normal and one J W Speaker) headlight lenses through stone damage.

I have no regrets about buying the J W Speaker lights as they are great (and as mentioned I still have a spare lens which is I assure you, reassuring) but the risk of having to shell out for a whole lamp assembly if a lens breaks is cost prohibitive and ridiculous. How many individuals would purchase them knowing this?.... I have asked myself that question numerous times! The cost of the units alone should in my opinion be justification enough for the main company to legitimately supply the lenses as piece part spare replacements surely? Pressure should be 'brought to bear' upon J W Speaker to do just that. If the warranty is voided by replacing the lens, so be it! It's still a damn sight cheaper than a new unit and damn easy to replace with no further issues!

Once again Tim, I accept total responsibility for the outcome and do not wish to rake over what is now 'cold ash' (not hot coals) and thank you for honouring your promise.

My advice would be to protect your outlay as much as possible with a set of lightguards as a stone can cause you a great deal of expense and heartache potentially. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

@ K9F I appreciate you saying that it was all your fault however I took on a risk doing something I was told not to do by ordering the parts Twisted Evil I have no bad feelings over this as you rightly say about raking over cold ash. As I said at the time and I am happy to say it again if you ever have a problem with a product we have supplied directly or indirectly then feel free to drop me a line.

What I wanted to do was head off at the pass various emails ending up in the USA asking about these parts and mentioning Mobile Centre etc.

It also presents another problem where the headlamps are purchased from dealer Y and have various repairs and then are returned under warranty. We operate a policy of self certification here in the UK which means we make the warranty call on the product irrespective of if we get paid for it or not. Occasionally we do not as upon inspection it is customer abuse and that is exactly what breaking a lens on a headlamp and running around for two months with it filling up with water before replacing the lens would be!

We want customers to be happy and offer the best level of service we can, the best bet IF you have a problem is contact me just as K9F did and we will do our best to resolve the situation via whatever means we have available.
