When I saw it I thought "what a fantastic New Defender that would be". I think it fits in with LR's "modern" design and would slot in with their other current models very nicely (think RRS). Add on many of the mods seen on here and some decent build quality and Bob's your uncle! Looks a damn sight better than the DC100.

That being said, for myself, I prefer the "retro" look but I really appreciate Daniele's work Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Simple question to those who actually have LED Headlights
I was speaking to someone who has just fitted them and he said that on dipped beam their light output was amazing, but on main beam they were no better than standard bulbs and he recommended and uses aux driving lights to compliment the main beam output.
I am not knocking the lights - just want an honest answer - may need to see them working in the dark myself.
I have Tims LED 70mm lights all round and they are fantastic, and would love to complete the transition with Headlights but only if they are brighter than my upgraded 110W IPFs

This is a fairly common observation, the high beam is better than standard but because of the massive improvement in dip you do not get the same wow when going dip to high. You also loose some of the comfort light so as you not lighting up the sky and trees your mind thinks the lamp is not as bright as what you are used to. The cold hard measuring equipment tells a different story - you are getting a better high beam no question.

Is it me or are those led ones fugly?

I think they look ugly. Don't look right on a traditional vehicle like the Defender. Maybe smaller ones as extra driving lights, but not main replacements. Perhaps a conventional looking lens, as the TLs have would be the disguise compromise.

LED could possibly help save wildlife. It scares & shines back reflective eyes better, or makes eyes glowing red.

You can always have the Chrome bezel to look more traditional Thumbs Up

Thanks Tim. To be honest, I'd probably get them from Nakatanenga as they're "local" (almost identical price, all in).
I like chrome as it looks more "standard" - this is important because I'm trying to gauge how likely it is that
a) Wifey will notice, and
b) in the event of a) that she will believe some cock and bull story about how they're just better covers that someone on this forum sent me for free...
Amazingly, the forum story worked for Mal's intercooler grille, so perhaps I have a chance Whistle Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Just for interest - not advising or selling anything - IFP headlights and D2s
All night pictures taken with same camera settings

Daylight view up my lane - the bend where the wall ends is about 100m away

Dipped headlights - showing about 50m

Main beam lighting up to corner

D2s - a much whiter light - the brightness distorted the picture a little - about the same distance as the main beam but better illumination
