Never bought a box of wine in my life. For me, the bottle is part of the whole experience and there is something quite satisfying about the sound of pouring from a bottle.
But then I don't drink like a fish - a bottle will last me 2 sittings / evenings - so the cost isn't much of an issue. What I do is always look for the special deals (I shop at the supermarket beginning with S) - where you get a 10 bottle for 5 or 2 for the price of 1. Just been watching the world news on BBC and a disabled Olympian has just stated and I quote;
"I'm going to go and celebrate by eating a McDonalds" Have McD's squirrelled into exploiting people for some free airtime, or are these Olympians really that 'daft'? She made herself look ridiculous, to a point that her partner quoted; "I'm going to go eat some proper food!" |

Why can't Royal Mail employ staff who can actually READ and obey Royal Mail Rules?
Sent out a package to a customer address recorded first class mail yesterday. Delivery address printed in 24 pt letters. Senders address in 12 pt, i.e. half the size of delivery address. Guess where it turned up? Yes our address. Was it signed for? Not by anyone at our address as we were out. I returned as postie was leaving. What is the betting that this package has been signed for by the postie???? Second time this has happened in last few weeks! Brendan |

What shocked me by the above post was the fact Brendan actually saw a postman. We get post snout twice a week now.....

I suspect the addresses are read by machines and it's probably the luck of the draw as to which way up the package lands on the conveyor.
We use packaging tape printed with our return details, this doesn't seem to get confused with the postal address. |

Cyclists, those in traffic weaving about through the slow moving traffic. And the eejit that thought he'd get a pull from me up a bit of a hill tonight by hanging on the ladder to the roofrack. A little bit of acceleration and then standing on the brake didn't seem to go down too well for him. Even better was that BMW behind that wasn't paying any attention

Courier companies. Don't you just love them?
OK I can understand that Highlands and Islands attract a premium on carriage cost. In general terms anything below Glasgow and Edinburgh is considered mainland UK as long as you do not have to take a ferry to get to it. Now according to one of the UK major courier companies the LAKE DISTRICT is now considered to be in the Highlands and Islands! Courier companies are such wonderful, helpful people who have a wonderful knowledge of UK geography. Brendan |

4 Tyres for my FL1 will need replacing soon. I like the STRs that are on there but at about 150 each they are expensive.
The problem is the choice of a decent 225/55/17 tyre is limited so thought about buying used 16" alloys but none to be found on ebay, been looking for a while now. But then i would need 5 wheels and at least 4 new tyres. Ideally i want more of an AT tyre but the STRs have done well, they just wear out inside 20K miles. Any suggestions welcomed- thanks Frustrated BM52 |

I fitted Grabber AT2's to my old Freelander and they we excellent. That was on 16 inch rims though, which probably doesn't help

To those people who drove through Worminghall last night at around 7pm and decided that twenty minutes of their time was more valuable than stopping to help a pregnant woman struggling to change a flat tyre....

School kids that walk by your Defender eyeing it up to nick stuff off it like valve caps ect
