Next up is sorting the oil leak. The oil filter is the prime suspect. I also think the injectors are leaking a bit so might need to have a look at them too. While changing the filter I'm also going to do an oil change.
What also needs to be done is properly tighten or even replace the turbo oil return hose as it's leaking a little bit. And tighten the belt of the alternator. But I'm afraid I'll have to take the whole wing section off to be able to reach both. And as finishing touch I want to replace the performance air filter with a standard filter. (still looking for an air filter housing btw) I'm also going to do the same with the battery box as what I did with the rest of the chassis. And I still have to find the source off all the water that gets in the cab after a bit of rain. Suspects are the door windows and somewhere on the bulkhead, probably the air vents. Scaling the real deal. |

Cheers ![]() Today I replaced the engine oil and oil filter. Started the engine afterwards and all was fine. Later today I tried to go for a drive but something blew. I turned the key to pre-heat. Which was fine. Then I turned to start, I heard a relay click and everything went off. ![]() ![]() |

Long time since my last update.
The electrical error was solved be removing the earth cable from the chassis to the battery, resoldering the connection that is bolted to the chassis. And voilla, it even started better than ever before. The battery seemed like new again. Then the next problem was 1 uneven wearing tire (right front). I researched what could be done with the suspension geometry and all that was possible was the tracking of the front wheels. So I made a little tool so I could do it myself. I lifted the front axle from the ground and checked for play on the bearings, just in case. That seemed fine. So next up was measuring the difference between the front of the rims and the rear. It had several mm toe in. While it needs 0-2mm toe out. The tool is an M6 stud with a 2 bolts locked on each other on 1 side ![]() Click image to enlarge And 2 bolts and a threaded piece of brass on the other side. I used 2 bolts on this side so that I could lock them together after measuring the small side of the wheel. Then I could move the brass piece out when measuring the other side of the wheel so. With the bolts still in the position of the small side, I could measure the distance between the bolts and the brass to measure the toe in/out. After I measured one side of the wheel I turned the wheel 180 degrees so that if it would be mounted crooked, that error would be corrected. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge That was all done in september. But I can't see if it has worked because I haven't even driven 1000km with it yet. But i did take it for a drive today after the first snow fall. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge And a small vid. https://picasaweb.google.com/1169023690551...7839947602 Scaling the real deal. |
