My first Defender, that was replaced by Yeovil, also came from another dealer. It had a lot of the problems that you had with yours with the addition of not being sprayed properly and a dent in one of the wings. I am sure the original dealer had been taking parts off the vehicle to repair other Defenders.

The replacement vehicle from the factory was a lot better, apart from paint missing and panel fit.

I think the moral of the story is ONLY accept a vehicle that comes from the factory !

Hi Bob

I couldn't agree more. Factory cars are the only way to go unless you get a huge discount and you are aware its not a factory fresh car.

I totally agree Grockle with reference to the test drives. It must have been used off road because of the lumps of mud around the chassis. In fact the dealer told me yesterday it was sent direct from Land Rover but had been stored at one of their demo centres Evil or Very Mad MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL!!!! HOW DARE LR TRY TO SELL A CAR, AS NEW, THEY HAVE OBVIOUSLY USED.

Be careful when excepting and even ordering your new car. Thumbs Up

I'm picking up my brand new (hopefully!) 90 CSW tomorrow. Is there anything I should particularly look out for before accepting it?

Hi Fandango

There is a post in this Puma TDCI section that is titled "NEW VEHICLE CHECKS". Sorry I dont know how to give you a link Embarassed . It has some very useful tips on what to check when collecting your new car. Obviously also beware of all the issues I have listed in this post.

It has been stressed by others before but you really must spend time checking your new Defender throughly.

Hope you enjoy it. Thumbs Up
