80 And how much of that gets immediately disposed of then via the tank vent rubber tube When I fill up, I stop at the first click of the filling nozzle. Afraid if you fill further up to the top of the filler tube, you just are wasting precious gold You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

It does indeed have a limp mode when there is only 4 litres left in the tank. When your driving, it cuts the engine for about half a second then the engine cuts in again and it keeps doing this every few seconds, i guess until it completely runs out. Luckily i was about 2km away from the petrol station when it happened to me. I put 57l in the 90, then just started it as usual, no pressing the brake pedal whilst twisting the temp knob and standing on one leg and singing ging gang gooly, just twisted the key and it started as usual.
Regards, Mark |

I think the daft antics are only required after you've killed it entirely - you got to a station and tanked up before that happened (luckily)
Thanks for the confirmation - I am now prepared... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Today on my way back from Brum, the low fuel indicator bonged at 405 miles, drove another 25 miles and filled her right up to the brim just abouts, it took 68.68 ltrs.
It was at Leicester services on the M1, BP garrage and the normal diesel today was 1.509 a litre, so after the maths £103.64 to gas up |

I always get nervous when the needle is mid orange, then I usually get 65l to the first click on the pump.
How far below red does the needle go before running out? Also is this limp mode a feature of the TD5 too? I am always nervous of running out of fuel after limping to a petrol station in my old Perkins engined 109, filling up and airlocking the pump as I drove off the forcourt onto the Leeds Ring Road! With the 4203 you had to crack each of the injector pipes while cranking to bleed the pump before it would restart ! |

This weekend I managed 118 liters into my 110 with an extra fender tanks, I was under the impression the capacity was 120 Lt? Now not so certain. And no limp mode with according to what I know 2 liters left in the tank?

I think you've asked the million pound question there. Can anyone answer: How much useable fuel is left after the "beep"? I can't find it in any LR texts. Knowing that and assuming a pretty poor fuel consumption, you'd know how far can you drive before going limp Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
