From the instructions for the kit (STC50257) it looks like there are long studs inside the tubes, 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Both arrangements in the photos don't look right, the brackets are subject to bending, all 6No. bolts should be fitted. I think they are mounted upside down. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

Click image to enlarge Very poor photo of mine, the detail has changed and they have added an angle stiffener along the bottom of the Xmember. Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |

Not that this helps, but this is how I carry my bikes when I don't have camper on the back, it is a Pendle 4 bike carrier, mounted to back of truck using the Pendle Garage Storage Bracket trimmed and bolted in place between wheel arch and fuel filler. I added 3 legs to it to make it more stable under heavy breaking.

thanks for the replies,
really i'm trying to source the 'regular' one, i.e. without the multi height slider options. looking at the LR Defender brochures, the 110 hi-cap has an extended drop plate. It has a box welded to what looks like a standard drop plate and has a hole/triangle/oval shapes cut in the extension box sides. from my digging i have found this: Catalogue: Defender 1987 - 2006 Section A01.190 Towing Equip-Drop Plate W/Tow Ball (HICAP FROM (V)WA138480) Q: does any of the above mean anything to the knowlegable, and/or is the 110 SW/UTILITY the same chassis as the HI-CAP? thanks al edit...going down the route of extending the tow ball to the end of the rear door wheel, might allow me to use a thule euroway 921 and use both bike spaces, with the wheel in the way, one bike space is voided. |
