2 cents
Sheet material shelves tend to collect dust, prefer netting or similar. Also easier to see what you have up there and dont restrict view as much when empty. For the price they cost you cant go wrong experimenting with these ikea stainless kitchen shelves  Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Re. shelves (and dog guards), does anyone know if you can fit rivnuts into the Puma SW headliner or where/if there is something solid to fix a rivnut into the roof behind the second row seats (pretty much in the middle of the guard above)?
Sorry for the minor hijack Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I have this net in the back of my DC - it is attached to the horizontal hoodsticks with bungee to give it some spring, and means that things like sleeping bags and thermarests are effectively held up there.
I am sure the same could be acheived in a hardtop without too much problem. There are even brackets available from the same site to attach the net to... Don't have any pictures with me I am afraid, but can post some up later if its any use. hth Mark [:O|===|O:] 2001 110 TD5 Doublecab |

Thanks for the info Hope this doesn't annoy you but just to check (feeling a little nervous), if I drill to put in a rivnut here: Click image to enlarge what will I actually drill through (e.g. headliner X mm thick, then...) and how far before the roof leaks? Hey Greeni,
I just used some 20mm square tube and made a frame to fit around a basket that I bought from a Business in Australia called "Howard’s Storage world" it supposed to be used in a wardrobe. I just cable tied the frame and basket together. Then bent up some 30mm flat bar to make the support arms and side bracket that I screwed into the old mounting points used for the grab handles. The back of the basket just bolts to the cargo barrier. It is solid as rock. All up under 60 AUD's or 40GBP. |

Cheers Drover, sounds quite simple
Now to search for some baskets...a trip to a retail supplier I reckon ! |

Decided to keep the rear seat in so needed something flexible to retain headroom and bought a £16 trailer cargo net from Halfrauds. It's a strong one with big clamps that hook nicely into the interior, quick and easy to take down if necessary!
It's strong but for heavy stuff a permanent solid shelf would be needed. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |
