It absorbs water, don't do it!

Too true. Most of this stuff is reliant on moisture to cure it properly in the first place. Some of the brands even tell you to spray water on first to start the process.

Ummm I'm pretty sure all that article is saying is how daft it is... Whistle

Twice referred to as a 'death trap'...

Impressive what he did with it, credit where credit's due!

if you put it in your chassis you will never be able to weld it due to the foam catching fire and the fumes ..

Dont do it!

my 1953 tatra came as a diy camper conversion. The guy isolated it with this type of sprayfoam.

When i removed the interior and the foam i was soaking wet... that was in 30° ambient temp and the tatra stored inside for more than 6 months. Not only all panels were corroded but the frame of the box, doors etc, which are wood were severely rotten. Repairing these was hell.

I avoid all types of glue-on or full surface contact with panels as much as i can. Water gets trapped and will never escape.

With the tatra, which is a forward control type of setup (so engine between driver and passenger) i had the best effect of sound damping by bolting a second sheet of metal on the inside of the engine cover. Used 3cm long nuts to create a void between original cover and new sheet.

The sheet got sprayed in truckbed liner to make it a bit more damping and heavy.

Liner will absorb and change freq and sheetmetal will reflect the high freqs was the idea behind it.

Maybe you could try something like this on the inside of the bonnet?

Your tale reminds me......Shortly after the 'velvet revolution' I had a friend working as an architect in Prague. I went out to look at getting a job out there with his firm. While there, I mentioned my interest in Tatras, and was sohwn to a dusty lockup by an English ex-pat, where I was offered not one but two Tatra T87s (one good, the other not so) for 20 grand!

At the time I thought that it seemed opportunistic, and I was broke.

Last T87 I saw, was selling for....
