Mine's generally around 25mpg, mud tyres, full length heavy roofrack, usually too much junk in the back and I do sometimes(too often )take advantage of the remap When I first had it remapped and less junk and "skinny" 7.50/16's with a road pattern I was getting close on 35mpg on a good run

Close to 40 mpg on 1.222 gears on a steady run in gear 5. Egr removed, mid box removed and stock tune.
Usually will manage 35 mpg on town driving. Yes, the 1.222 does help. Ambient temp ranges from 28 to 34 deg C Defender 90. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. In mine I used to get 26.5-28.5mpg, which I was reasonably happy with, bearing in mind it is an auto and generally auto mpg isn't as good as a manual.
Since fitting the roll cage though I am getting a pretty steady 25 mpg. Not so happy |

Did LR design all their engines to have very similar MPG. My 300 did similar MPG to those quoted above and my Puma is similar as well. Best i have had in the 300 was nearly 30 and same with the Puma. Worst mid 20's. BM52

My 5 bearing 2286cc in a SIII 88" PU only ever managed 22 mpg.
If I pushed it it went down to 18.5 mpg. Max with overdrive 65 mph. They have inproved a bit since then |

Sounds amazing, but it's 14km to 1 litre. That's at 1970rpm. Which gives me about 90km/h. Gps tracked
40L gets me 580km. Yes, we are talking about cruising in 5th. Just go gentle on the right foot! So let's take things a ill less positive with 530km So it's about 13km/l which is still pretty good. Got 36 a couple of times. Average was 28 lowest 22 pulling a heavy cherry picker. All standard apart from MTR tyres and a snorkel.

Ah, so that's just at that sort of steady speed? Most folks quote MPG as an average from one tankful to the next, which takes into account the wide variations between accelerating and coasting, hills, etc. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Used to get 31mpg out my old 90, and that was on country lanes, but straight-throught exhaust, silly filter and viscous fan taken off.
New 110 (still a Td5) gets closer to 28. Snorkel doesn't help though. Soon to get a freer-flowing exhaust and a remap to help thing out |
