Mantec and OE LR RAI
Hello guys

I have the New Platic Jobbie Mantec snorkel on my Puma. All mantec type and OE LR snorkels do not ram straight to the wind like Safari, ABS, Airflow, etc.

Do you think there is really a difference on the airflow mass at the bottom of the piece?

I`ve just taken my Mantec plastic jobbie off my Puma ready to part-ex it and i cannot believe how much better it goes without it Shocked It must have a massive restriction on the air flow Thumbs Up

S3d...considering the same, what did you do with the exposed rivnuts.

thought i might just roll some nice stainless dome heads into the nuts.

I didn't notice any change in performance when I put the snorkel on.

Sonic - it's probably all the other weight you removed from the front bumper that made the difference Neutral

Mantec has designed the snorkel with these engines in mind and they pay particular attention to the bore of the pipe. Given that it is on the low pressure side of the turbo, I doubt whether it really has a significant impact. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Trust me it made a hell of a differance Shocked If you look inside the bottom of the snorkel its very restrictive Thumbs Up

It is quite restrictive, I agree - but it also constricts further on in the intake (and obviously has to draw through the filter).

I'd have thought I'd see a drop in my fuel economy if my performance was throttled because i'd have to be giving it more gas. I've not seen any deterioration.

Speed-wise, I still have the same sports car performance as before Whistle One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I fitted one a week and a half ago, and performance hasn't suffered at all for me. Sadly, however, it does fit next to the windscreen in the exact place I used to grab onto whilst climbing in... Confused Peter

So far these kind of RAI either keep or worsens engine performance. WOuld be interesting to know what happens with the Safari type on. Puma 110" SW

Dont want to start a fight, but I have heard of quite a few occurences of puma engined vehicles going into limp mode as a direct result of restricted airflow through a snorkle.

In our case, we didn't felt any problem in power using the Mantec one.
