I am thinking of adding a "old style" aluminium LR emblem like in the picture below to the back of my SVX. Not necessarily looking for an old original one, but a new alu good quality repro would do. Are they still made and where can they be ordered? Canvassed the net a bit, including site sponsors, but can't find anything. Suggestions?

Thanks, not decided yet what to do exactly. Keep it in mind though. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I bought mine via eBay but the company that supplied it - Falon Nameplates - has its' own website, too. You can find the Land Rover ovals HERE. Darren

Thanks for the link Darren. Did you rivet it onto your truck or did you glue it? Asking because it would replace my current LR oval which on the SVX is glued. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

It's attached with SS nyloc nuts and Allen head bolts, with homemade foam gasket on the rear. Hope that helps. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |

Mao99999,
Nice, especially on a black SVX like yours , and mine... Interesting that yours shows as place of make "Birmingham", today the same one on their website shows "Solihull". No issue of course. Same question to you as I asked to Darren. How did you fix it? Glued, or riveted? Tks, Eric You never actually own a Defender. Or is it too heavy for that, or too prone for someone being tempted to pull it off? No matter what, it will be done, but want to check best options with both you guys who have the experience You never actually own a Defender. I guess you could glue it with something appropriately sticky. The plates are pre-drilled though, so you'd see the unfilled holes (unless you cut some false bolt heads, but that's a lot of faffing).
When I fitted one of these to my Stage 1 some years ago, I did glue it as well to make it less nickable, but I think nylon nuts are probably enough, to be honest. I used double sided foam/ tape to mount mine the rivets are for show just glued on as I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in the SVX
I chose the Birmingham badge as it is the same as my series ones, Land Rover fitted them to the later series ones and early series twos I thought it was just a little extra retro novelty for the SVX. On yours I would go for the "four wheel drive station wagon" logo. Already tried to order mine (LR four wheel drive Station Wagon) from their website, but seems something wrong with their system. When placing the order and after entering personal information, the only button available to go further is "Payment by cheque".... which obviously does not work from abroad
Already sent them an e-mail to ask how we can get this properly sorted. Will see. You never actually own a Defender.
