United Kingdom 2011 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Orkney Grey
Hi T1G UP...definitely not me being fussy...unfortunately old enough to have had enough cars in my time to know what's right and what's just character! I can live with the clunking between changes...this is severe vibration following a long run at speed, as though the prop shaft is loose. It's audible internally and externally...I'm sure it's the handbrake shoes catching. Cheers, Nick Defender 2.2 2013

not that this helps, but my engine, drivetrain and suspension are silky smooth, defenders can be a nice drive, although i do want a pair of recaros in the front. if you have just picked up the vehicle, reject it - you have consumer rights.

I would give them another chance to go right through it and fix it. If you reject it you will be looking at a 2.2, something to consider with the DPF!

Fair enough Nick, Alot of people buy cars how they "look" and then moan about how they drive!

mines fine, 3500 miles and apart from a whine on overrun and a bit of handbrake chatter when she's hot alls good. I certainly want to keep it out the dealers as long as poss.

Vibration could be down to a tight UJ? CV or dodgy diff aswell as out of balance tyre etc.
