TDCI Engine Spares
Hi lads sorry this is my first post and i am on the want Embarassed

Basically i have a transit with a blown engine and ford tell me they wont/can't sell me a conrod and bigend bearings

they want to sell me a short engine at the cost of £1540

So we have been thiking as the puma engine is a transit engine may be landrover would sell us the bits

So i am hopeing one of you may know if the conrods and bigends are avaliable for a puma engine from landrover

generally there are several part worn engines from transits and pumas on e/bay may be a cheeper and easier way to go DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Ah a 110 for work if only I could get all the tools in I would have a
110 utillity tomorrow Razz
This one is one of my engineers so could do with it back on the road

Its just a bit peaving that ford won't sell the parts when we are more than capable of repairing it

Hi Chris: Microcat is showing LR004453 (Grade H), LR004454 (Grade I) and LR004455 (Grade J) as the con rods on the 2.4 They are retailed at £82.08 + VAT each.

LR004411 are the big end bearings are are £13.62 each.

Still think Zag has the right idea though. Laughing

Thanks for the help I have ordered the parts today Thumbs Up
With a bit of luck they will be here tomorrow so I will let you know how we get on on Monday
As long as the rod is the same and I see no reason why not you should have saved me nearly £1350 before dinner Thumbs Up


Just a few more savings like that and should be able to afford that 110 Whistle

Good luck, but you may find a Defender Crank shaft and Con rods are different from a Transit engine due to the change in Torque characteristics between the two models.

Open the packaging carefully, then at least you can return them if they don't fit. Big Cry Richard

My rod had an I stamped in it so ordered that one

Hi all we have had a couple of probs up till now but nothing major

Ford supplied the wrong timing chain Shocked Rolling Eyes
And when we fitted the rear crankshaft oil seal it got nicked Embarassed

So with a bit of luck we should have a working engine by tomorrow

The con rod is spot on it seems so the only parts that wasn't ment to work is fine Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

In answer to the questions it has done 100k miles
has full service history alll from ford apart from the last one
And there is no reason that we can find the explain why it happened
We have owned it from new so we know its all right

So i can only hope all will be ok when it goes back in
There is also a leaking blanking plug in the front of the gearbox to sort now its out

You would be better of with running boards so you could get an even bead of sealant down the whole lenght Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Or you could just tar the roof from them Laughing

There must be a reason why we can't enough of them
