are the transfer boxes the same in the tdci as the td5 ie lt230 1.4 ratio ??? cheers john |

Think the Tdci uses the 1.2 trans box like the disco

just to be clear, defender td5's are 1.4, defender 2.4/tdci's are 1.2 (discovery td5's are 1.2) |

is it possible to fit a transfer box from a 300tdi disco then -- provided its fitted with difflock ??? as they are lt230 1.2 ratio ??? |

I put a disco transfer box into mine 2 weeks ago and it had turned out great.
Mine was from a 300tdi, going into a TD5 110. Few things to note - Difflock switch is different and needed re wiring Hi Low switch won't fit Speedo over reads - I will look into changing the plastic cog to fix that at some point. Had to remove the harmonic dampner. All told, it was an easy job taking 3 hours to complete. 2002 Defender 110 DC |

thought some of the discos didnt have difflock lever etc ??? fitted with cdl but no levers to activate it ?? mine is noisy when you engage cdl even when at crawling pace -high or low box --- ideas welcome but presume fault with cdl so looking at replacing transferbox and wondering which ones are compatible |

later td5 discos didn't have CDL. but why do you want to change yout tdci TB for an older ones??? |

According to his icon, the OP has a Td5, not Puma.

CDL was deleted for some of the disco 2 period, so a 300dti disco box will be fine. 2002 Defender 110 DC

icon needs updating as of today
avatar is of my 200 tdi offroader 
bought an 08 tdci with 20k mls on it owner said difflock had never been used !!! but if you select difflock then it makes a loud rumbling noise from transferbox area ??? drives ok without difflock engaged. just driven it 70ish miles home without fault  poss have access to 300tdi transferbox to try before i dive in and order a new transferbox from ashcrofts so just wanting to clarify compatibility ???? |
