a blocking diode split charge is half the price of that ACR, and about a thousand times more reliable. I won't say any more Laughing

I did read it BigMike - but I'm not keen on re-wiring my defender. the kit you recommend involves running wires to the alternator etc. the Blue sea is much more straightforward. I think this will fulfill all my requirements.

Why do you think ACR will be unreliable ?

BP - no the basic ABM does not involve the alternator at all, it just wires to the batteries, that's all. If you give them a call they'll talk you through it, it's easy to weire yourself, no technical know how required.

brendan - yes, very minor. Bit preferable to a chattering relay

Thought you could loose a volt across a blocking diode. Errr yes it was a bit back so things might have changed a bit

BigMike - found the ABM's page ... is the "ABM Intelligent Solenoid System 12v-200A Twin Bank" the model you are describing ? Looks good. having read the pdf, it's a straightforward install too. Thumbs Up

devon have a deal on a pair of odyssey 1500s and a tray for the puma seat box.. so i'll take out the 110 battery and replace with two

Where have you got those prices from T1G?

Twin Odyssey 1500 plus a battery tray for a Puma is £454 on the Devon site.

Battery tray is £48, Odyssey 1500 is £227 on Devon Site.

Unfortunately we can not match Devon price on post 07 batteries and tray package. Big Cry

I believed the hype when the Optima was the battery to have (actually I was fooled by the marketing) and put a red top in my P38. The previous OEM battery had been in there for 5 years. The Optima lasted just 2.

bit off topic for OP but i have a coupke of batteries that i took out of an old van we had.

Now then! they'll do for my 110 i think. will they fit in a twin battery tray? i know devon do a tray.

And what about management, it says thw VSR's aren't any good if you run a winch? i want a winch.

also are there any schematics about for a general set up including a winch, and extras such as lights,rear power sockets etc please.
