Mine is a hardtop, I have put some sheets of 40mm polystyrene on the back panels then fitted 6mm thick plywood covered in Black carpet over the top - sounds naff but looks great. I then have put some dense foam - like neoprene rubber on the wheel boxes and floor before covering with plywood. Noise is drastically reduced so at 70mph it is very quiet - for a Defender that is

I have a CSW and realise that the this maybe a little more soundproofed - but its already quieter than any other defender i have owned or been in...are there any other places to soundproof or is this just for van bodies? Mike

Hi Guys,
I have taken the rear seats out of my 110 DC XS to fit storage boxes for a long overland trip and the noise level increased dramatically - there is absolutely NO sound insulation under the seats! Contacted "Noisekiller" after reading one of there ads and after somer scratching of heads as to weather their landrover 'kits' fitted the Puma, they came ot my works and fitted a full kit of insulation to the rear and made themselves a set of templates for future jobs. The difference is amazing - why the hell LR couldn't fit this stuff is beyond me. Would well reccomend Noisekiller. Cheers, Rick. |

Thanks Rick - Glad to hear you used Noisekiller. I spoke to them yesterday and for £240 I can get a full kit for my 90 Puma including bell housing and under bonnet insulation etc.
Going to feel like I'm driving a bentley soon |

Hi
just wondering if you had fitted the sound proofing kit yet, and did it made a difference. i have a soft top SVX, so a bit loud above 50mph, the wife has to shout at me when we speak, so it may be worth me getting (rid of the wife) a sound proofing kit. Cheers keith puer claudius |

Parktag,
I think it was £180 for the rear cab and underbonnet insulation, but that included fitting at my address. Give Noisekiller a call and have a chat with them. Cheers, Rick. |

People Hi,
noisekiller soundproofing kits work extremely well on every type of Land Rover (and other makes) of vehicles that they have been fitted up to now. I think it is suffice to say that such a kit DID make a HUGE difference even on a Range Rover P38 (4.6) when it was fitted about 5 years ago. In fact I was so impressed with the quality and performance of the product that I now represent Noisekiller for the national area of Greece. Up to now we have only fitted the underbonnet soundproofing kits on Defender Puma vehicles (D110 CWS on both occasions) but the owners have reported that even this limited soundproofing has returned a very noticeable difference (with the engine noise level being decreased) when their Defenders travel at around 80 to 140 Kph and even on tickover. Now that Steve has a ready kit for the complete vehicle I will ring him also to send me a set (one of the owners had asked for it and will be happy to hear that it is now available) (my Defender is completely open top (will be even losing the window frame part of the doors and the windscreen in a few days so the only soundproofing possible is to fit earplugs <LOL>) Take care Pantelis Giamarellos LAND ROVER CLUB OF GREECE (founder) www.lrcg.gr P.O. Thank's RickA
I'll give them a call next week. It's a shame land rover don't cover the rear cab passengers seat box, my two children get a fright every time a stone hits underneath . I think i'll cover the rear bulkhead aswell as the seat box, which should make crusing really quiet. 130 crew cab 98 V8 Disco |

Even my wife agrees the Noisekiller blanket was worth the money
They do a custom-sized "L"-shape one for the Puma so you can still get to the dipstick etc. and I think a lot of the noise comes from the bonnet/bulkhead area. Apart from that, everything is covered in carpets and rubber mats so not going any further. Hope that helps. Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Ditto T1G UP.
I'm looking for the right foil type insulation like Dynamat. At a point in my build where this has to be done before alot of other things can continue |

well my plan is to do the rear end first, i'll be having the 6+7th seat out soon and ditching the rear carpet for something more sturdy so that is the time to line the whole rear end with something both thermal and sound deadening. Dynamat is very expensive per sqM so i need a cheaper alternative |

another thumbs up for Noisekiller. Only problem I had was some of the templates didn't quite match my vehicle and getting the self adhesive stuff to stick on vertical surfaces - need to have another go when the weather gets warmer. Overall though very worthwhile.
