Aha thanks adiep. I'd just realised I posted on this thread a long time ago. It seems - from reading your link - that nice cheap B&Q butyl flashing is pretty much the same as the well - expensive dynamat
I think I ought to go on Dragons Den with my new ( B&Q purchased ) all new expensive, massive mark up/profit margin 'Rossymat' |

My 12 2.2 110 xs came with the worst quality carpet iv seen on a landrover , cut by a drunk youth trainee with a blunt knife i think and many places none at all . Many new owners are saying that NO carpet at all . I at last have just finished all the vehicle with 1/2 inch luxury black axminster throughout , seats out , door panels off , inside battery and ecu boxes , under bonnet , foot wells , bulkhead and tunnel and all internal trim off . A big job but amazing heat preservation and sound deafaning . Iv had to alter the door catches as the carpets so thick i cant close the front doors . I have never been a fan of the pre - cut company sound proofing peices that are available at a heafty cost . Get yourself a big roll of cheep carpet and stick it to every piece of metal you can find and you will be well chuffed |

this is an interesting explanation of sound proofing concepts as it pertains to buildings... same physics appy i presume
http://www.quietrock.com/educational-resou...paper.html they have a quietcar paint that can be sprayed in engine bay, underside/wheel arches and also inside, they claiming upto 25db noise reduction with it http://www.quietrock.com/documentation/func-startdown/352/ |

the problem i have here is the amount of sand and dust, especially with beach being so much a normal part of life, hence not being able to wash out the inside would lose some of the pleasure offered by a defender. |

Your only going to be washing out the floor panels so get the doors , bonnet , side panels , seat box , roof and back seat benches done and you will find amazing results .

Adiep,
Sorry im on my phone so can't give you a link, but the EvoStick that you linked to I believe is a bitchumin based flashing tape. You want a butyl based version, as the bitchumen smells when it gets hot (same smell as hot asphalt...). A friend has some in his HiLux, and it does make a huge difference, and hasn't peeled off while jet washing the floor panels (it's a farm vehicle so sees its fair share of dust/dirt/grime) |

oh i may of found something more effective than dynamat
SoundBlocker2™ Weight: 2 pounds per square foot STC rating 32 Two pounds per square foot - 1/4" thick Roll sizes: Non-adhesive backed 54" x 10' (45 sq ft.) $160 roll 54" x 20' (90 sq ft.) $318 roll 54" x 30' (135 sq ft.) $474 roll 54" x 60' (270 sq ft.) $945 roll http://www.gretchken.com/sound_blocking_vi...ndblocker2 certainly a higher STC rating and also double the mass. Anyone know how much dynamat is? |

I got a mail back from those guys, the material with an STC of 32 is apparently difficult to shape around corners due to its thickness (1/4 inch) but i guess its very good for flat floor areas. |

This company might be worth a try. http://www.carinsulation.co.uk/ Quite cheep bitumen sheet and can be paired with acoustic felts for a fraction of NoiseKiller and Dynamat.
