There was some info on an Autron unit discussed on aulro.com:

I remember a previous posting on this or another forum which stated that the full cruise control functionality already exists and is enabled in the Engine Management System. It showed a wiring diagram with two switches and four wires connected to unused contacts on the main connector. If correct, then any commercial product should be relatively inexpensive? Hi all
have been looking into cruise control to. first off, i can not find a fly by wire system that is avalable at the moment, the the two companies i spoke to at first, told me it was mechanicle, and would cost around £600.00 fitted. i then spoke to Harry at Adroit Services - 01205 820004. he uses a company that supplies fly by wire systems. what i am trying to do, when i get time, hope fully this weekend, is take a picture of the connector on the accellerator, and provide voltage readings for each connection, in the the full throtle position and no throtle postion. this hopefuly will allow them to make the bits for the kit and supply me. i also need to locate the speed pulse sensor, i have the wire diagreame, but need to locate it on the car, this will allow the system to maintain speed up hill and down dale as they say. will keep ypou posted, but if you find anything different, please let us know. These are the two I have found so far in Australia.
Autron: www.autron.com.au - as already mentioned there is information on AULRO.com about this. Command Auto Group: Pictures here - http://www.cruisecontrols.com.au/prod-cc.html The CAG one is the same unit that I also found on a UK site. At least as far as the control panel/stalks are concerned. I can't find the URL for that site though. I suspect if the ECM does have a cruise control sub-system then it may be available to the CANbus and therefore might be easier to get something to talk to it. I know the Puma's engine has Ford Transit origins is the ECM from the same stock or is this a Land Rover development? If it is a standard Ford unit, then this may open other options. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

I bought for my Puma a cruise control from http://www.cruisecontrols.com.au/prod-cc.html, but didn't had time to install it.
Hope it won't be too difficult. |

An Australian mob...just up the road from me in Sydney....it looks like the Autron unit. What are the installation instructions? Are you able to post them here? Some of the Aussies here are descended from convicts transported from the Old Country so we are a little suspicious. Mahn '08 Defender 110 ex '95 Disco 300 Tdi www.aulro.com |

In my earlier post it seems I was describing the Td5 ECU when saying you only needed four wires and two switches to exploit the inbuilt Cruise Control functionality.
So, can someone confirm, for sure, that the same or similar functionality does NOT exist in the Puma/TDCi ECU and unused pins on the multi-connector to the ECU? Seems odd it was in the Td5 and is not in the, presumably more advanced, Puma unit which also has drive-by-wire throttle control which I guess is a really useful feature for Cruise Controlling.
