First Service at 12 months.
Although my Puma 2.4 90XS has only done 9.5k, it is 12 months old, so I have just had the first service. The dealer did have the rear cross member and tow assembly re-painted because it was heavily rusted like one pictured on this forum previously, and they waxoiled inside the crossmember as well. It seems to be a reasonable job. Also, they say they replaced the fuel pressure valve, (anyone know where that is?) after I complained about power loss/19 mpg problems. (The EGR was replaced after delivery.) This service has made quite a difference to the running and I wonder if they have also re-progammed the ECU with an update, any ideas?

Oh, and I also had the 3-line Puma rear window problem fixed.

Correct.

But it's the fuel pressure valve that intrigues me.

I would like to hear from anyone that knows about the valve, including the location, just to satisfy myself that these are not fairy stories.

Also, is it possible to ask for/obtain a print out of the Land Rover's record for the vehicle that records all build details and warrenty work?

Any ideas?

Re: First Service at 12 months.
My Puma 90 XS SW came up for its first 12-month service yesterday 1 May and in April I surveyed the local service options which I thought might be of interest:

Lookers Colchester (Sales Dealer/Authorised Repairer): £440
Stratstone Woodford (Sales Dealer/Authorised Repairer): £383 (dealer I purchased from originally)
Taylors Car Care Centre*, Dunmow (Authorised Repairer): £298

i.e. a difference of up to £142 for the same service.

I didn't realize to start with that there were Land Rover "Authorised Repairers" (i.e. workshops) distinct from dealerships. I checked out Taylors and they are shown on the LR website and although they service other makes including Renault, the LR workshop is a distinct building separate from the rest and covered in LR signage and referred to as Taylors Land Rover Service Centre.

The work seemed fine and I ended up with a proper Land Rover stamp in my service booklet and the invoice was on LR headed stationary. It seems I'll be receiving a Quality Assurance call from them and from Land Rover to check on my customer experience. The only comment I have is that I expected to receive together with the Invoice a copy of the Maintenance Check Sheet, i.e. the tick list showing what was appropriate for this service with a list of remedial work etc. I get such a thing when another make is serviced by a dealer.

Anyway - I saved some money and so far appear to have received good service, so I can recommend Taylors if they are reasonably close to you in Essex.

The rear window fault is caused by the high level brake light cover rubbing through the heating element wires, sorted by putting some insulation tape between the wires and the cover of the light ,check yours if it's ok or after you've had it replaced Thumbs Up 2.4 90 XS

I mistakenly chose Hunters in Guildford for £375! They only carried out some of the work (I know because I marked the various components)
I managed to get a partial refund; but appalling service really, if I had not been an enthusiast I would have been none the wiser Surprised
I would go for the independent LR specialist and make it clear you want the service done “to the book” Thumbs Up

Just been quoted £220 for a first service on the Defender Tdci. She will be in for some warranty work so I asked for a quote for the service. Seems reasonable enough as it is a maindealer. Will probably go for it. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
