Not done it but interesting as I have a creak at the back so will investigate and let you know if I come up with anything

I am not sure why cars nowadays have no hinges lubricated. I have spread lithium grease from day one on my defender. Some of my more techy friends with engineering background suggest is not needed. However it is harmless to spread some old fashion grease…and makes me feel better

l've managed to oil the hinges with spray grease.
However it didn't stop the creaking. |

please try lubricating the sealing rubbers, I also had a squeaking sound from the rear and it helped me
