I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some (understated) grilles for the rear windows on my 110?
I know Defender security is laughable at best but the plastic clips on the back windows seem like a sick joke We're off to Italy again soon and I'd like to make it as hard/noisy as possible to break in (already have a bloody big steering claw). How much are the MSS ones? The Mantec ones look very nice but £250 for a couple of bits of mesh from garden centre is frankly a joke.

The MSS and Mantec ones do look the business Trouble is, we often have kids sitting in the back and I don't want getting used to prison bars I guess I'll probably go for the Safaris on the outside, so the inside of the cabin isn't affected too much. Hate the idea of drilling into the outside skin though. Wonder how much they are? Being black on a dark blue background they shouldn't look too awful... Rear window grilles?
Mobile Storage Systems and Mantec both do internal ones. Advantages off internal ones include that you have a inbuilt grid wall system which provides storage for light units such as first aid kits etc. Disadvantage is that you have difficulty of opening the rear sliding windows fully, also they provide no protection to windows being broken. Safari Equip do external ones. Advantages include being able to open windows fully from inside and protection to windows from outside. No internal storage system! Also fasten from outside Rear door window grilles tend to be internal due to rear wash wipe. Using this grille as a 'storage unit' will hinder the view from rear view mirror. The two small rear windows are a security issue so grilles on them are a good idea. MSS and Safari Equip ones are internal/external ones. Both the Safari and MSS ones (to best of my knowledge) are laser cut out of about 2mm steel, Can not remember if the steel is galvanised (I thinkSafari are) and after cutting they are powder coated. Down to normal retail prices Safari Equip External Side window grilles £112 Safari Equip rear door grille (internal) £62 Safari Equip rear window grilles (internal/external) £67 MSS Internal side window grilles £152 MSS Rear set of 3 £138 MSS Rear 2 small windows £50 I do not easily and readily have Mantec prices to hand It is up to the individual to decide on their needs and wants, also what is an advantage/disadvantage for themselves HTH Brendan |

That's brilliant - thanks!
I've narrowed it down to Safari or Nakatanenga externals, mostly due to the kids (less prison-like, opening windows for ventilation etc.) I just launched another thread asking for decent pics of the Safari one, for comparison to Nak. who are in Germany Tell someone you love them today because life is short. The MSS internal grills have a slot that enables operation of the rear sliding window. I have these fitted and find them very good.

Very true... Can't dispute what you're saying at all
Don't need to slide the windows all the way back from inside (even if they would). The couple of inches of movement is sufficient to vent steam from the kettle on a windy day - which is all the head chef needs I also have privacy glass fitted so the grills are not obvious from outside and also use them for securing light weight items.
