Recommendations for heated seats

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to replace the front seats in my 90 TD5.

Currently fitted are Mazda RX8 leather sports seats, which to be fair are pretty comfortable and highly adjustable. They are both heated (at least they should be) and the passenger side seat base is easy to take out to access the battery box, like the standard land rover seats. The driver side is fully electric which is a bit of a waste of time to be honest and all the motors etc mean that accessing the box below (ECU etc) is a real pain in the butt because the seat base is much more difficult to take out. The seat adjustment buttons on the side are pretty close to the door card and one of the buttons keeps coming off when getting out of the truck.

Anyway, the driver seat heating has never worked although all the other electrics were successfully wired up. I wired both seats up and added OEM switches and relays etc and the passenger side is perfect.

I know there is probably a broken wire somewhere, so it's possible someone with more time could get the thing working again. However, on balance, I want to swap in some new ones and probably sell the Mazda ones. Ideally, I would like the spec to be:
Heated
Leather / Alcantara
Recline
Complete with runners / fitting kit / adaptors
Seat bases easy out like LR originals
Maybe red/black like the current Mazda ones which look good in my opinion and also match the red/black Momo steering wheel (all fitted by previous owners by the way).

Or (Curveball) - maybe heated leather LR seats e.g. from an XS ?

There seems to be a lot of options out there, so i'd like to ask for recommendations from you kind lot, for something sensibly priced, easy to fit, comfortable and overall value for money.

personally i would fit std XS seats, they are heated and comfy and fit.

i had merc seats in a 90 once, butons really close to door so you had to open door to adjust seat, and far too high but they were comfy. i drove it home with them in and then removed them. Cheers

Have you seen the premium seat upgrade kit from exmoor trim? That’s my plan when I get round to it (must use puma style seats) plenty of options for material/colour

Yeah, I'm 50/50 at this stage, although having a quick look online, there don't seem to be too many options on the LR XS seats currently. Most are expensive and a bit tatty. I'm thinking to fit an Anderson connector or remote battery posts to limit the potential of needing the passenger seat base out. On the driver side, I suppose needing access to the ECU would mean that taking the seat out (x4 relatively accessible nuts / bolts) wouldn't be too much of an issue. I have a question on aftermarket seat heating, but I'll post that separately. Cheers. Defender 90 TD5 2004

Thanks for the tip. However, as I don't currently have puma seats, this probably doesn't make financial sense for my particular situation, but I see that it's a nice upgrade for someone that has. Cheers. Defender 90 TD5 2004

I fitted Saab 9-5 estate seats to my 110 a few years ago both front and rear, Had to do a little metal engineering on the rear seat but they are all heated and work fine.

@maranellohouse that looks great! I have RX8 seats up front in mine which work well being a bit tall. How are the Saab seats for head room?

In the rear can you remember what you had to do? Do they tip forwards?
