Heated windscreen - normal operation?
Is this normal for the puma heated windscreen? I left it on for maybe 5-8 minutes before i gave up and started scraping. Only saw this center line and then a couple of other faint melting lines come through. How quickly should I expect it to start clearing the ice? There wasn’t a lot… took less than a minute to scrape the whole thing.

Assume the heating elements have failed? Mine did on my Td5 Discovery and it only heated patches, like yours. New windscreen solved that problem. BORG - Bucks & Oxon 4x4 Response Group

Time for a new screen. A new screen will clear a heavy frost in 5 minutes.

Mine does exactly this too! ha. Let me know how you get on with the new screen and the damage £.

Thanks!

It is only normal when the screen is fubar, as others have noted, time for a new screen.

What you need ideally is a huge stone chip or a crack in the swept area, since that would legitimately allow you to exercise the windscreen repair provision of your insurance (which sadly almost certainly won't cover element failure).

Thanks all! Wanted to check this wasn’t expected first… I’ll go dig into what a replacement looks like

As noted, probably a screen required, BUT, check it is getting power first. There are fuses and relays in the system.

The fact that a narrow band is clearing correctly would suggest in this case that the screen is getting power.

It’s amazing how much damage a good belt to a centre punch can do….
