Rubber Mats

Boring & non technical post…

Has anyone tried to put the newer Genuine LR rubber mats (pictured top) in an older defender (200/300 tdi) as opposed to the old ones designed for that shape (pictured bottom)? Do they fit or is it a no go?

200tdi is a different shape to the 300, which is the same as the td5. So no “Puma/tdci” ones won’t work. I think the best solution for Mats in these are the nice exmoor “autograph” ones and they’re not too dear and fit well.

The below aren’t cheap but are worth it.

I did some work on a 300tdi recently and noticed it had the latest Puma mats fitted, looked neat enough with a minor trim although there was so much wrong with it looking at the mats was the last thing on my mind.

I have always liked the genuine td5 Land Rover mats in my 300tdi, however they last about a year before they wear through, next time I will replace them with Autograph mats mentioned above as they are a thicker rubber in the wear area.

Also bear in mind the Puma mats above are no more hard wearing than the td5 type - what looks like blocks of solid rubber are actually hollow underneath

I have had these in my Tdi for 9 years and they are still as good as the day I fitted them which is good given they are relatively cheap.

They’re the same as the exmoor ones as above
