Delphi "look-alike" lift pumps?
The Delphi lift pumps for the 300tdi seem to have vanished off the market.

Plenty of retailers still listing them, but, if you actually ask them, none of them have them.

There is, however, a look-alike that's suddenly about.

I have two concerns -

A, real life, friend once fitted one of the cheaper ones. Ran fine for a while and then the arm dropped off into the engine. He had to take the sump off...

Delphi ones last with biodiesel. Who knows what the new ones will be like.

The question -

Has anyone fitted one of the new pumps that look just like the Delphi units, but are not Delphi? Still working?

Also -

Has anyone managed to buy a Delphi recently? If so, can I ask where from?

(Please don't just say "xxxx has them on their website" as loads of people do, but, again, if you mail them, they say "no")

Thank you.

I fitted a look alike to my tdi 200, because it seemed to be leaking, but was working, it must have lasted six months before the pin inside snapped rendering it useless. I fitted a Delphi one, same results. I then bought a second hand genuine one, which was fine. New parts are very often worse than old ones! 1983 110 automatic OM606

I've got one of the hs2.8 engines (the 300tdi clone).

That uses the same lift pump setup, but requires a custom pump, as the 300 ones don't fit.

And the custom one is £100 a hit rather than £25 and break just as quick.

I gave up in the end and fitted a little electric one.

Which is what I should do to the 300 really.

I have run 300’s for longer than I can remember, I’ve had at least twenty of them, only ever had one pin snap abut fifteen years ago on a genuine pump which had been on vehicle from new, although would be a shame if the Delphi is unavailable as the internal cleanable filter is a big improvement over the original.

This is why I moved to an electric pump when my 90 had the 200 in it. It's easy to do and you won't miss changing lift pumps 😁

If I do it, I'll use one of the little black faucet pumps.

They do one with a clear pre-filter bowl, but that one is not compatible with biodiesel (I suspect it's the clear bowl that would die) so I'll probably just fit a stainless mesh pre filter from eBay / Ali express etc (they're all the same)

It would be fine, but every part always comes with a different thread type so you end up having to buy odd adapters etc etc and, whilst it won't be costly, it will take a while.

...which is whats putting me off!

This is the second new 200tdi fuel lift pump failing after a short period. I always buy the STC1190G and get the blue box with the pump unbranded. The first was leaking, the second too and did mij engine cut off. Where can i find the branded pumps ETC6180G, ETC7868G or STC1190G.
