How did that happen? Is what I'd be more concerned about.. If its settled in the sump it will likely do no harm, I think you will be lucky to see it again unless you have the sump off.. |

It would bother me. I'd drop the sump and fish it out, it's a simple job, but you'll likely need a new sump as its hard to not deform the flange.
Thinking about it you might be able to fish it out through the drain hole with a bit of wire or something. Try that first. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |

I was going to say wouldn’t a magnet draw it out the oil drain hole in the pan, but being non ferrous the tip won’t do that readily.
I expect some wire fashioned into a loop might find it, but it would be a bit like fishing literally and you’d have to be careful the wire didn’t break off or that would be even more of a problem. It happened to me a few years back, I replaced the sump to get it out even though it was likely overkill. WARNING.

Thanks, did not do a search, was not aware that it is "common"
I have a soldered fitting inside the sump for oil temperature, so I hesitate a bit dropping the sump. But thanks for your suggestions!! |
