A bar bolts seized!!! - anyone got any pearls of wisdom?
Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for me on this? - I need to replace the top plastic mounts that sit on the a bar to the slam panel frame with the flat dog stainless ones which i have already brought. On the upper fixings points, 2 of the screws going into the a bar are stripped, one is loose and comes out, the other is seized and feels like the whole 'rivnet' piece is spinning in the bumper.

Has anyone had this before and/or got any pearls of wisdom? - my only suggestion or guess is that i need to drill them out, see if i can resurect any threads with a tap and if not, use 2 part resin with some M6 stud and then just use a nut on the underside with the stud opposed to a bolt going into the a bar?

I did pretty much what you described, ground the heads of the bolts off and then used some needle nose mole grips to pull the insert out. I then replaced these with hex stud connectors I cut down to size and then araldited in place. I cut some notches with a grinder into the stud connector to give the araldite something to get hold of.

I either gripped exposed thread or if it’s just the insert left in there then I went digging, sits about 2mm under the surface. Pull hard enough and they’ll come out!

I bought one that the seller wrapped so tightly it snapped the plastic brackets which were intact when posted and all the bolts had seized or stripped. Now it’s got stainless fittings so shouldn’t have to do it again.

If you don’t mind me ruining your thread, can I ask what you think about your tent box- I like the look of them - they seem well designed for the British climate. I’m just wondering about space inside as I’m 6 ft 3. Thanks Jerry

Hi Jerry, no worries buddy, I can 100% reccomend them tbh. I have had tuff trek, an autohome and also a grp maggalonia and all of them were of but this is by far the best. It's heavy and the MPG has dropped enough to be noticable (20 miles or 30 miles different to an average tank) but i am also 6ft 3, and there is ample space for two in the tent and it is really well built. the fact its a landrover branded one is also what did it for me, i couldn't not buy one Laughing Defender 130 HCPU TD5
