Not that you are close by but if you do find your way to somewhere near Ottawa, I do have a Nanocom you can borrow. They are super slick and when I used to drive the Defender back and forth from Ottawa to Halifax, I used to leave it installed all the time to monitor parameters.
Well worth the investment for someone in Canada , far from TD5 SMEs.

Your mileage is fine. lt can depend on so many things.

l've got a 2022 Defender with the 3.0 diesel. MPG (U.K. gallons) averages 25 in the city.
That's effectively the same as my old TD5 Defender 110.

Sure, l can get more. Driving like my grandma l can get it closer to 30mpg.

On the highway it's better, 40mpg and in that respect an improvement on the TD5.

On my TD5 l could easily get the mileage down to 20mpg in the city. And l could never improve on 25mpg highway mileage unless l sat at 50mph.

Also MPG on the 110 is a little lower than the 90 due to the extra weight of the vehicle.

lf your TD5 runs good with no excessive black smoke, and starts fine (should start literally on the first turn of the crankshaft) and it doesn't have a dodgy aftermarket remap then it's probably as it should be.

If you do a lot of highway mileage you could consider fitting an overdrive, or Diacovery transfer box, to raise the gearing.

RPM on the TD5 Defender at 70mph is 3,000. On my 2022 Defender it's 1,500 rpm. The TD5 will easily pull a higher cruising gear particularly with a mild remap, and it will improve your MPG (and reduce noise levels) at higher speeds.

Patrick, thank you for the offer much appreciated.

My unit just got delievered! So I will be messing with it over the next bit and keep an eye on the inputs (i'm thinking maf, map, aat, etc) while driving to see if theres anything off.

Agreed Lightning that the speed is likely = high rpms. Now with the Nanocom I can see just how high!
