dual battery?
Hi Guys, with all the extras i have been adding to my 110 lately, skytag, eberspacher, heatshot unit etc i noticed this morning that the clock was suddenly running 40 minutes slow, so i think it may be time to add that extra battery to the 110 as the skytag runs off it permanently i thought it would be a good idea.

Does anyone have a good link to fitting it and which is the best one to go for, best place to get it from etc

Many thanks in advance

Col

Numex are a sealed lead acid battery.

Optimas, enough said

Odysseys are probably the best AGM batteries currently available for the 4x4 market.

As much as it pains me to say this we can not currently match the Devon 4x4 offer HERE Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

For split charging systems we use IBS here

Thanks for the answers guys, this really is a good site for people trying to help you out when your setting about doing new things to the defender. Thumbs Up

Is it a fairly straight forward thing to do, the split charge/dual battery set up. Not had a chance to read into it yet as i only noticed the clock running behind this morning.

We run 3 Land Rovers all with Odyssey batteries in

Disco 2 with single Odyssey 1500

Red 110 with twin Odyssey 1700's and a Genesyz split charge system

Black 110 with twin Odyssey 1500's and an IBS battery management system.

Have used Optimas in the past, now use Odysseys only in our vehicles!

If going for twin batteries ensure both batteries are a combined starter/leisure battery. Wire most of your auxiliary items to the second battery. (Via a decent fuse box which also has common negative bus bars)

There are many ways of achieving split charging. The three main contenders for battery management systems are

IBS available from 4x4 Overlander HEREat £225

Genesyz available from Devon 4x4 hereat £269

National Luna available from APB Trading HERE at £272

Of the three I have no personal experience of the National Luna

The Genesyz on our red 110 does not seem to like it if one of the batteries goes low and just goes around its start up sequence cycle.

The IBS on our black 110 has been good. (Declared interest here we sell the IBS system) The only IBS system I have know to have any problems with is one that one of our customers has recently fitted. We are trying to identify the actual cause of the problem with the Swiss manufacturers at this moment in time.

YES there are lots of other ways of charging twin batteries
