I used 6 on my Howling Moon onto a Patriot rackas I don't really trust the extruding idea but been all good for the 6000+ miles since Formerly mao99999

Four plates, eight stainless bolts. Howling Moon on Patriot. Seems fine.
I take it on and off a bit and replace the nyloc nuts when I do. |

Autohome stuff (Maggiolinas and Overlands) are supplied with four clamps (eight bolts in total) as standard.

Both my Maggiolina's are only bolted down with 4 SS bolts onto a Patriot rack,,
