Yes, you can remove the rocker carrier in any position. Load points shift as the cams rotate. The key is taking care to un load the carrier evenly as you remove/reinstall it. Go Slow! Double check as you go that the rockers are properly engaged with the valves and the cam. Carefully tighten down in small steps and make sure there is no bending or twisting load applied to the carrier. It can and will crack otherwise.

Great stuff! Makes it a little less complicated trying to work out timing without the timing case off (and therefore replacing also)
