Matrix led halo failure
The front offside led halo matrix on my 2021 D250 defender has failed. Has anyone had a similar issue. The car has done about 30k miles. The rest of the headlamp unit seems to be working as it should. The fuses are fine and all connections are connected. Thanks.

Just had my left drl fail. Noticed it in the reflection from the car in front. I guess it’s a mot failure so will have to be fixed. Mine are matrix led headlamps so expecting a sizeable bill!!

Mine has also just turned 31000 and will be 4 years old in January.
I will be phoning Williams JLR and will ask for a sympathetic post warranty claim, but not holding out much hope.

I think I read somewhere that they are sealed units and can’t be fixed. 😞 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

check out Powerful Uk, Simon did a tutorial on this subject

https://www.powerfuluk.com/collections/new...l663-right

another solution is to 'disable' the other (hand working) 'signature led'

Those of you who had the 'S' model will remember this model did NOT come with 'Signature halo leds'

As long as you have the two square leds in each of the cluster, that will pass an MOT

Yes just seen that. He says to check that LR might honour an out of warranty replacement. Worth a try before trying a self repair. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

It is Repair able, heat the unit up in the oven, be patience by tearing the lens off , replace the led unit.

Loads of failures on the US Defender forum. Possibly due to the hotter climate? Varied success in claiming from LR.

New headlights are a silly price.

Powerful U.K. sell a repair kit.

Be sure to check it’s not grounding as LED’s can be sensitive to faults like that, voltage or poor connections. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Halo failure is also a common reported issue in Australia

Had both Front headlights replaced by LR under warranty because of Halo failures in the 12 months
The service manager stated that the replacement headlights had different part numbers to the
originals fitted on our MY20.5, so fingers crossed they have improved the "resiliency" of the halo and
they do not fail again Thumbs Up no doubt i have jinxed it Whistle .. yet another pommie bar steward down under

16months and 20000km in, no issues, fingers crossed. I have 5yrs factory warranty and 5yrs extended platinum warranty, so should be covered in the event of a component failure. Similar with our Jeep, extended warranty has paid for itself with full u-connect system replacement (jeeps pivi equivalent) as well as several other key part replacements: water pump and coolant overflow bottle, idle control solenoid, lower wishbones support plates etc.
