Does anyone know what the temp gauge on the dash plugs into in the engine bay?
Cheers |

In the 2.2 tdci Ford this comes up quite often, is it different on 2.2 versus 2.4?

the 2.2tdci engine takes its temp from a sensor in the top hose Into the radiator... I think the 2.4 engine has a temp sensor fitted into the head, but not sure if thats in addition to the one in the hose or instead of...

I've not looked at the wiring dig , but pretty sure it is the sensor that will supply a signal to the ecu..which in turn will operate the instrument cluster temp gauge.. ie it's not a direct connection from temp sensor to dash gauge.. but I'd check that on a wiring dig.. I can't atm..

I did point all this out in the other topic you raised on the subject.

And
Andy is correct, the temp sensor is connected to the engine ECU and the ECU signals the temp guage on the Instrument cluster via the CAN Bus. I suspect the wiring, one of the connectors or the sensors. Unlikely to be CAN buss as that would raise DTC’s, potentially the Instrument cluster. So test the wiring and sensor first. |

New sensor fitted and no difference.
Taken dash out and flicked needle with finger and it moved, engine off then engine on worked. Tried again this morning and didn’t move. |
