So is the D250, D300 and D350 the same engine with different tunes? Then why not go from 250 to 350bhp in one tune?

After genuine software upgrade to D300 I have a couple of notes.
Immediately you will notice the torque curve is different.
You lose torque between 1200 and 1500rpm compared to the 250 and you get middle punch torque from 2500 to 3500 which is not felt on the 250.
Acceleration from standstill is more consistent and overtaking easier.
Mpg didn’t notice any difference. It’s a thirsty beast.

Interesting....bit of a digress but still related, I had my D4 remapped with an aftermarket ecu flash tune, from 188kW to 225kW and 650Nm This was the SDV6SE. Torque curve was so much better, instant response from idle and just linear. great for towing. Noticeable fuel burn reduction too, real world burn was 8.9-9.3 l/100km highway, 10.3-11.0 l/100km towing.

It's only a matter of time before someone builds a decent and reliable tune for those that dont like the LR factory ones. Once out of warranty would be an easy mod.

At the moment I'm pretty happy with the P400 as standard.

Hello,

I am curious whether it is possible to have my D250 being remapped to D350 by these guys without the dealer to recognize it.

Same guys that offer the jet-pro software.
They need a vin of an existing D350 for loading the map to adapt for my car and remote access to my car being connected to my laptop via e-net.

I am not in trouble with them working remotely on my car as they already did before by activating some things like ACC when the IID tool G4 was still unavailable.

They are doing their remap for USD595. So it is not too expensive.

Question is:
Will the JLR dealer recognize the changes when doing regular service on my car? Mine is from Germany and has a five year warranty that I am not willing to loose.
Please tell me your thoughts. Greetings

Philipp

....But only after the public flogging. Laughing

No idea re whether JLR can see it, but I'd have assumed that we'd have heard if they can from the various forums etc if they had uncovered a remap and the consequences.

Also, is the five year warranty a German or EU requirement? We only get three years in the UK. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

5 years is not a requirement either by the EU or Germany.
LR just decided to offer it.

I think I will do the remap right after the first two years service in July.
Five years might be in the EU. Might be in Germany only. I do not know. Greetings

hi, this dealer is the same svstool, in the Person of Gary, I am aware that they do programming (attention not remapping) from d200, d250, to D300.
since they download a new software owned by land rover, no error appears on the jlr diagnosis, the only problem could be the road test.......
I think that the transition to D350 is a new experiment, (he asked you for a d350 vin to be able to download the corresponding software from the jlr database), in your place for d350 I would wait some time, I would not want risky experiments on a car with a 5 year warranty.

I think that the answer is YES… they WILL be able to say.

I spoke to Alive Tuning and they told me that there is a “counter” that shows how many times the ECU has been mapped…

If you remap it (OEM map or not) it will show.

If you have a smaller engine fault, they will probably not check, but if you have a major engine failure, I am sure that they will look at the ECU to make sure that it hasn’t been changed.

I don’t work for JLR or one of their dealerships, but I would not take the risk.

Remember… it is like an insurance… if they can find a way to wriggle out of having to pay… they will.

Here, In Spain too, since June 2023 all JLR products have a 5-year warranty here, the only thing is that the kilometers have gone from being unlimited, when was 3 years, to 150,000 for those 5 years now
….and It is not a European directive, but rather an attempt by JLR to get rid of that bad reputation for unreliability, which is so deserved in some cases and so unfair and unjust in many others. Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY
