Trust me... if they notice that ANYTHING has been changed with the motor, then they will refuse warranty cover!!
It doesn't matter if you have used the Genuine remap or if you have used a aftermarket remap!! I know this because I have a D5 that had the DETUNED version of the TDV6 (150KW rather than 180KW). This is due to taxation. The engines are identical... it is just the tuning that is different. I asked my dealer if they could map it with the 180KW, and they said that "could" do it, but that it would invalidate the warranty. I then asked Alive Tuning, and they told me that they could also do it, but that each time the map is applied, there is a "counter" that increases... so the dealer can "see" if it has been modified. They also said that if it is "mapped" (even with the OEM files), that the vehicle RISKS losing warranty not only on the engine, but on the whole drive train (transmission, diffs etc) because LR will say that you are putting more power in to the components than JLR designed when then manufactured the vehicle. We all know that the engines are internally identical, but they don't admit that. So... I would think VERY carefully before mapping the engine while the vehicle is still under warranty because JLR will use any excuse they can to not pay out if they can!! |

Changing a D250 to 350 takes two seconds off the 0-60mph time. Down from 8 to 6.1
So it's definitely worthwhile if you want more performance, (and your Defender is out of warranty) The engine/transmission etc should be fine as it's available with 350bhp in some versions. |

Did the remap from D200 tot D300, and makes a very big differance for me. A D200 is not slow, but my 90 is now really a fun car to drive also on road, overtakes and short sprints are awesome.
Yes there will be a risk attached to it if you run in to issues, but so far i would not have it any other way |

There are definitely more differences even in the engine. The D200 has for sure different pistons than a D350. Composition may be different, as more power needs to handle more heat. And as manufacturers try to save money wherever they can, they will equip a D200 with the cheapest possible piston composition. Regarding the spare parts, there is just the D350 piston available, as storage costs may exceed material costs, when they need to handle different pistons for different engines. That's why a lot of ppl think, engines are identical, because there is just one spare part number for pistons, rods, etc... |

ah ok, thanks! I'll have a look. Do you know if it also deactivates the EGR valve?
