United Kingdom 1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue
Update: Steering is much better Smile

Not so much today as this weekend:

Finally re-fitted the rear door, door card
Adjusted the rear door catch and now the door shuts a lot better
Started looking into the reason for the rear wiper not parking when switched off(currently parks where ever you turn the switch off) issue being, no power to the green wire at the rear of the landy
Repainted the rear cross member and front bumper

Think I have solved the random knocking noise from the drivers side B pillar. It appears to becoming from the drivers side rear door. On inspection, the middlle support bar behind the door card had rusted through at one side and barely hanging on at the other end - simple fix, just remove it as it was doing no good.

Replaced engine oil - 8 months / 4500 miles.
Oil filters
Fuel filter
Checked transfer case oil/topped up a little.
Screen wash topped up.
Paint chips tidied up with a touch up pen 1999 Defender TD5 110

It’s been a bit of a pain of a year for paint chips, mine picked up a couple, but luckily nothing much of concern.
There are some rather large chippings and stones around on the roads the last year or two, I think some of it has spilled from trucks carrying it. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

I’ve spent the weekend up in Bowness and I decided to go find the Longsleddale waterfall, so put the location into the satnav and ended up here…

This was probably the worst part, a 30deg down slope, nice and narrow with a big rock just at the wrong point. Anyway after nearly 30 minutes of backwards and forwards I managed to get around down but at one point I really thought I’d gotten myself stuck

This is me coming almost to the end of the trail and seeing the sign, there wasn’t a corresponding one at the other end of the trail where I had started.

This is the track in case anyone knows it

Anyway by the time I had got to the trail to the waterfall it was getting late and I didn’t fancy an hours trek in the gloom so I never got to see the waterfall Sad

set up the 2 x roof tents ready for the game fair in a few weeks. realised one is too close to the other and a window on one cannot be set up properly.

left them set up in the workshop on the roof rack to air out before i load them with pillows and sleeping bags.

Finally got round to getting the roof re-sprayed due to lacquer peel.
A very good job and well priced.
Just have the chassis to paint next to keep it preserved. Then in the near future a new clutch, and gearbox/t-fer box refresh and she’ll be just how I want it.
Time for a beer Smile

I had a nasty vibration at around 90 km/h.
Wheelbearings and swivel balls and bearings were already replaced (they were in a very bad condition) a month ago.
New tires and balancing because they were very worn.
Had the steering aligned.
Still vibration....

Yesterday I replaced the bushes and bolts in the panhard rod. Vibration is gone!
I am happy! Driving around with a big smile.

Now just work my way through the rest of the jobs still to do...

Fitted a new rear door threshold/carpet retainer from YRM and a new rubber lower door seal.
I think this has reduced some of the exhaust/road noise coming in.

Standard oil/water/screen wash checks

Fixed the wobbly drivers side headlight, turns out when I refitted the headlight after replacing the bulb, I had not located the headlight retaining ring into the top adjuster. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Gave the dash and other things an interior cleaning, just basic wipe down.

I also topped up screenwash funny enough as Excossack did, coincidental. Very Happy

I also put back in the 3x duck bill drains into the fan intake, I should have done that a few months ago really but at least means cooler air comes through.
I normally take them out over winter, as having them out keeps moisture in the intake down and keeps the interior glass drier and more free from condensation. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️
