Changed transfer box to 1.2 and cruise control doesn’t wor
Hi guys,

I’ve made the cruise control mod a few years ago to my TD5. It worked lovely until I changed my transfer box to a 1.2 ratio. My Speedo still reads correct but the cruise control doesn’t work?

Is there an ECU mod that can be performed to fix this?

Thanks in advance

It can be done in the ECU too, negating the need for a speedo healer.

Been quoted £130+VAT For the ECU mod but I can get a speedo healer for £85ish

If I go the healer route I assume I put it between speedo and ECU? If so I’ll mount it behind the speedo cluster. Anyone know the correct cable I need to put it between?

I had a similar issue on my TD5, after installing a recon gearbox with the V8 5th gear ratio.

The pulse signal goes from the sender on T-box to speedo gauge where it is multiplied by 2 and sent down to the ECU. In my case, the altered 5th ratio sent a false signal which tells the ECU to cancel the CC due to the signals being out of the parameters.

The speedo read accurately and I didn't want to change that so I installed the unit between the instrument cluster and the ECU near to the main black ECU plug. In this case the red cable on the Speedohealer needs an ignition live, the black cable needs an earth. Cut the yellow/white ECU wire coming from terminal B13 on the black ECU plug, connected the white wire to the speedo gauge end and the green wire to the ECU end. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

Any idea if that yellow/white cable goes behind the instrument cluster to the speedo?

It's yellow+pink, and is on one of the pink plugs to the speedo.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I put my speedo healer with the engine ecu, I have on overdrive so fitted a 5pin relay to switch the speed signal going direct to the ecu or via the speedo healer.

Cheers

I wouldn't put the healer on the speedo feed as your speedo will read slow I better to connect it at the ECU speed input .

The yellow/pink is the signal OUT of the speedo, to the ECU.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

If you have a Nanocom (or access to one), and have not had your ECU remapped, I can do the Cruise Control healing ECU mod for you at zero cost.

However that will most likely remove any current mapping you have in place. Instagram @defender_ventures

Most definitely, hence the requisite of not having had the ECU remapped. 24 yrs of Td5 ownership
