Does anyone happen to know the spanner size for the 2.4 Puma 90 brake bleed nipples?
Also any tips on a perfect tool for the job? I have everything else, just need to get the right spanner. There are a few options on the market for brake bleed spanner’s so anyone have any suggestions for a really good tool for the job? There are flare nut types, a type with integral seal and nipple, / colour coded and ring spanner type, I think a spanner with flats is just best avoided as will slip and possibly round. Which would be a nightmare in itself so certainly don’t want to do that. |

Aren’t the bleed nipples 11mm. And if tight use a socket, to snap it loose, then spanner.

11mm. Alot of the specific brake spanners don't fit as the sides are too thick on the pipe inlets, you can get away with them on the bleeds. I tend to use the ring end of std spanner. Cheers

Rebuild a few calipers over the years, never had an issue popping the pistons out with compressed air. Keep your fingers well clear and use a c clamp to place back and hold the pistons that popped. As said replacement calipers are affordable but a piston seal kit is more affordable still.
Recently rebuild my rear calipers on my 110 and took maybe 30 min a side. Should be good for another 10 years, went for normal chromed rather than stainless. Click image to enlarge |
