I did it.
It was only a question of time, but with my recent 55th birthday some funds became available and I decided now is the time to re-join the community and start Land Rover ownership for a second time. Some might have seen the My First Defender post. well, technically back then it wasn't a Defender but a 1988 One-Ten. Interesting story there as I bought the first vehicle pre-Covid unseen from Ebay for £3000. Bought from a South African guy, and the car came with electric windows that one of the previous owners fitted. One window wasn't working though. How is this relevant? Well... My second One-Ten which I recently purchased is a 1988 and I bought it from a South African guy. One of the previous owners fitted electric windows and you guessed it... one window wasn't working. I took that as a sign that this was the one to get. The fact that it comes in a gorgeous green with the right bit of patina and a 3.9l V8 might have influenced the decision a tiny bit as well... Teaser image only for now. more to follow when I have the chance to photograph her properly. Click image to enlarge |

as promised a few more images of my new Lend Rover below.
Took the pictures today after returning from the dog walk. Still in love with the colour and the general 80s vibe of the vehicle. but see for yourself: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge plans for the near future are the addition of a leisure battery to run a fridge and smaller electronic devices. I moved away from initial ideas of adding solar to the vehicle as I will never realistically go anywhere and stay with the vehicle stationary for more than a day. I'll also add some cargo rails internally to hang some stuff and need to work out how i can make the vehicle sleepable in with minimum modification to the interior. there are some ideas and i hope to use this thread to share ideas... Initially i thought to convert my Defenbder to a more permanent camper. When i got the One-Ten though in its reasonably good condition internally i rethought and asked myself how many times i go camping over the year compared to using the vehicle as a family car... The decision was then made to built a camping trailer instead that i can hook up any time when we go as a family and use the One-Ten on its own with minim um equipment if I go away on my own... |
