in town (Swindon) at one of the tyre places, there's a sierra estate and an older boxy granada coupe, must be staff that work there as they're always in the carpark. I must grab some pictures when I'm passing next.

on my way home i saw a rover 75 with a private plate on, looks like the owner had it from new, as he was about in his 60s. Rovers and MG counter part have practically gone now from where i live. It was nice to see a rover 75 again, as those were like cheap jags, and i saw one go for peanuts in a car auction some years ago now. who ever bought that got a hell of a bargain, for what it was. a rover 75 estate, very practical and cheep at the time.

A mate of mine had a rover 75 estate that was probably 5ish years older than my Focus, but it was totally maxed out, full leather seats, all the bells and whistles on it, unbelievably comfortable and quite punchy for what it was. Sadly it reached the point where cost of repairs greatly outweighed everything else.

One other vehicle I don't tend to see around anymore is the real boxy old Volvo 700 series. Proper childs drawing of a car those! The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Rovers Ian, are bloody expensive to fix. The rover metro vvc i built turned into a mega money pit, I was changing parts that i had changed. Budgeted £1000 for a headgasket change, that was me doing it, with all the parts, and head sent away. I put on the latest head gasket and oil rail, and things just went to a runner away train. The cost went into £500 more, and i was like sod this! plus the car started to blow random fuses. So it was really taking the mick. I got shot. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

There was a DeLorean in the lay-by by Longwater on the A47 near Norwich tonight. It had its hazard lights on and was still there half hour later so I presume it had broken down?

Can’t remember ever seeing one on the road. There is or was a gathering at Senowe Park in Norfolk every year. It was where the Wheeler Dealers TV programme took theirs when it was finished.

My Rover 214 was a money pit also. It never provided enough charge. New alternators, new batteries, bigger batteries. Several mechanics and auto electricians later they all agreed the problem but no one ever got to the bottom of it. Shame, it was a lovely little motor and the K series was really good.

Actually Procta, I seem to recall now it was a auto gearbox issue on his rover which he was quoted an obscene amount to repair and his thoughts were "what next after that gets fixed?" - so he bought my Focus instead Laughing The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Going to work, this afternoon. I happen to see a escort Cosworth, in the royal blue. I was like bloody hell!! it must have been nearly 25 years easy since i saw one of those in the flesh! I told my gaffer, and he was like, that's money!! and said his mate has rebuilt a sierra Cosworth in sliver. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Yeah my vvc build started to get silly, the car really started to fight me. Laugh was it never got a hard time at all, due to the fact i was always worried that the engine would go bang, like my 1st one did on tick over. Really i never had much luck with that project. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

In France you still see these Renault Express box vans pottering about

https://www.renaultgroup.com/news-onair/ac...e-a-vivre/

I like utilitarian cars, someing purposeful about it. Very French thing. While sitting in my (French) P38 with a trailer hooked up one was doing a 20point turn in front of me, space was tight, didn't look like he had much power steering. I looked at the rear wheels, how thin they are and typically french seem to just hang on to the car with a stick. All so light and simple compare that to my lumbering v8 rover.

those little vans just vanished, the last time i saw one would have been in the 2000s. The Citroen counter part, one that sometimes is used as a mini camper van, i spotted parked up out side a house, that was about 3 years ago. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I watched PowerfulUK’s latest video last night about the Historic Cars auction at Ascot.
2 things surprised me
1) 2 x Jaguar I-Paces hiding in the background - a car that went on sale in 2018 is historic?
2) Only 13 Austin/MG Metros left showing on the DVLA register! Amazing that so many relatively recent cars must have gone to the scrapyard. I had a very early MG Metro 1300 (non Turbo) and it got written off when another car drove over the bonnet as my brother was going around a roundabout after collecting it from being serviced for me. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I wonder how many cars got needlessly wasted during the car trade in thing that happened a few years ago? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Our other vehicle (Subaru Forester), spec wise, I believe there are only 145 currently licenced...

So don't see too many of them around! The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

i watched a youtube video on that, and the data came back, that Ford was the highest casualty of that, 70,000 cars, next one was Vauxhall at 48,000, Practically most of the Daewoo cars, all got disposed of in that too. Eye watering in what got bailed really, and i am sure that most of them are still in that field now, 15 years later. The cars that replaced those, will be scrapped now. Waste really and a daft idea really, as it didn't do anything. Except smash the second hand car market, and scrap yards. Last thing people are going to buy if they are tight for money, is a spanking new car. They are more likely to buy a second runner for peanuts. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

The mini boys destroyed a lot of the Austin and MG metros, Most of which were great nick too. Bought the car, whipped the running gear and brakes, and bailed the rest. The metro owners club ( if that still survives) they saved a good 1000 metros, that was 10 years ago. Great cars mind, i owned 3. My mate has been trying to push back into them, but i am i hell paying £2000 for a rotten GTI, and going through the self support thing too. Plus Rover bits and scrapyards are far and few between now. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
