Hi, back in December got chatting to the driver of a MK 1 Astra GTE he said it was one of only 6 on the road, also the local garage owner drives a Lotus Elan as a daily most of the year, although probably not super rare I doubt many are used as a daily, he drives from High Wycombe to Thame, it’s in lovely condition as well, he has owned it for a long time. Cheers Paul

Ford Escort RS2000 Ford Escort Mexico Lotus Carlton Vauxhall senator 3.0 24v ( used to have one ) Opel manta GTE Ford Capri, of any type, not just the RS 3.1 which was pretty rare to start with. Last month on the M11 I passed, a DMC DeLorean , first I have ever seen on the road ! On Saturday I followed 2 Early E type soft top jags on a country road, that was lovely to see and hear. |

Just a few weeks ago, driving on the German authobhan I got the first ever real life sight of a DMC DeLorean too. After keeping his speed for a while, I overtook him, and pulled into a petrol station. Getting out of the petrol station, there is was, parked in the rest area. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

funny enough, i saw one of those today, looks like the owner did a canvas sunroof conversion to it. yeah i do agree those are getting a very rare sight to see on the road, even as a little weekend car now, My auntie had two, one she had from new, and the laugh was, my very 1st car the rover metro, was the same colour and the reg was very, very close too. So a very strong chance they were on the same forecourt new together. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

One bloke down the road from me used to own those, he always had the Rover 800s and the Jags. 10 years ago he had bought another SD1, He had it for a couple of years, until i saw him in a red MGB roaster with wire wheels and chrome bumpers. Paul, if i am right in thinking, any Vauxhall from that era backwards is practically extinct. i got a bit of a shock when i saw a mk2 cav hatchback, a couple of years ago. That was the 1st time i saw one since the mid 90s Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

A little bit more 'on topic' for this forum,
A 200 TDi Discovery or a pre facelift Freelander 1. Both were the best selling 4x4s of their era. Now 25 or 30 have passed and rust has taken it's toll, I can't actually remember seeing either one for a while. I had a trip to the Hebrides and North West Coast of Scotland recently, one vehicle that did stand out was a beautiful Range Rover classic, circa 1990, either Belgian or Dutch registered, on a holiday trip. They just look so 'right' and I still miss mine. 'Off topic', older Toyota coupes, Celica, Supra, AE86. I've still not seen a new GR86 on the road either... |

Any pre 2010 Alfa Romeo, i was surprised to see one of the older Spyders today, reminds you that cars used to be more interesting.
