My old corded angle grinder finally had to be retired from fine work duties at the weekend. I am tiling and the bearings must have gone as it was chipping the tiles like no bodies business; used a couple of different diamond discs to be sure.
As I'm saving ~£500 doing the job myself, so decided to buy a decent brushless grinder and opted for this: https://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/makita-dg...-body-only I have to say it is incredible. Even using the 115mm diamond discs it cuts like butter, with no chipping. I only have one 5ah battery and find that by the time I need to charge it, I'm ready for a break anyway. A lot of money, but another excellent product from Makita. 2011 CSW XS 90 |

Workshop buddy has one. Used it while refitting our sailboat a couple of times. Brilliant tool!

I do like most of the Makita cordless tools.
I do NOT like the way the Makita for changing disks. So dammed primitive.. The Germans did it so much better with the Metabo M Quick release. Once you are used to that.. no return ?si=LP6DP1r_D0vrTNHm Probably will fit on the Makita. No Mud flaps for my 90.! ----------------------------------------- P300s MY21 Keswick Green on air, adv.+ offroad pack, DRL+fog, Dinamica Suedecloth + Ebony headliner/Cross Beam- Many Mods.. |

You need to work on your grip strength
![]() On most grinders you can just press the button and then use the disc to unscrew the nut. Then replace the nut and tighten by hand; works that way on the makita and my old bosch. 2011 CSW XS 90 |

Grinder discs should only be on hand tight, I’ve never tightened one with a spanner in my life!
