sunroof - with twist handle
My Defender got a new coat of paint and for that we had to remove the sunroof and did a complete seal replacement. Now however I noted that the roof is leaking following the reassembly.
Is there a good fix to get the roof watertight? I suspect the strip seal is not properly assembled but was hoping there is a smarter way to get the roof water proofed? Td5 110 Station

I suspect the main seal has not seated properly onto the roof panel. You might want to lift the seal and squeeze a little silicone underneath it to form a proper seal.

As for the glass seal, a smear of silicone grease is enough to seal and prevent the glass from freezing to the seal.

It is also worth checking that the front sliding hinges are able to slide smoothly. These can rust and prevent the glass from sealing properly at the front. They are designed so the glass can be removed during the summer for the full open air experience.

Mine used to leak (twisty handle)

in the end I smeared the seal in vaseline, which stopped it leaking, then didn't open it for the next 4 years until I sold it.

To be honest mine has never leaked, but it does form the most amazing forest of icicles in winter that are extremely cold when they fall off down between your neck and collar Rolling with laughter
