We all have our niggles at JLR but I think Ford have lost their way. When I was an apprentice, company cars were a Ford, BL Rover or Vauxhall. The Ford Puma was the best selling car in the U.K. last year. But it was the only Ford in the top 10. Second was the Nissan Qashqai and third the Vauxhall Corsa

A friend of mine owns a 3 wheeler called a Pembleton.

I don't see many of my generations first cars - 3rd generation fiestas, 1st generation clios.
An acquaintance even had a Rover Metro It got broken into one night in a retail park car park and joy ridden around the carpark then left there - After the police came and left he hopped in it to drive it home, I remember distinctly he had to turn left out the parking space, then straight, then left out onto the road, then straight up to the roundabout (which was when he was out of sight), we then heard a great orchestra roar of horns and a screech... I think most of our generation cars have practically bit the dust 10 years ago easy, Metro, mk1 clio, mk3 fiesta and the mk4, 1st gen corsas, all practically died out in the mid 2000s. When i was building my vvc metro back in 2008, i was finding some right bother getting bits for it. Due to the fact most of the metros were binned off about 4 years before hand, I had a pick of metros back in 2003 in scrap yards. A lass i went to school with max powered her mk1 clio, that will be long dead now. Saxo and the 106 has gone now too, although i still do see the odd 206 knocking about still, also today i did see another peugeot 306! it was an earlier car to mine, mine is a mk3, this one was a mk2. looked like a pov spec one. Been a good while since i saw another one, back in 2010s you still saw them. But i think the mileage has killed a lot off, when i bought mine back in 2007, some were well into the 100k marker mileage wise. I remember all of us youngsters comparing insurance for our 1 - 1.2l cars trying to find that sweetspot between bhp and insurance price, I suppose taking into some consideration the increase in mortality.... then one of our friends was on his Dads farms fleet insurance and he rocks up with a Peugeot 306 GTI 6

Thanks to my Dad's business policy, somehow I ended up being insured fully comprehensive on my V8 series 1 80" conversion at the ripe old age of 18 !!!! And I could drive his Porsche 911 when I was not much older
