My uncle had one of those - you used to see them everywhere.

Sadly they were a target for mischief in 1980’s Merseyside…

Its been well over 5 years since i saw anything with 3 wheels on the road. Anything Reliant has practically vanished, even the proper mini seems to have gone now, which was a right common sight. I have seen one recently that looks like its got the rallying spec, but that's about it. My mate has a proper cooper on K plate 1993, and i think he has only put that on the road a couple of times in the past 10 years. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Through most of the 90's 3PHW was common sight around here as allegedly the owner was a test driver for Mclaren before they moved to their current site.

And its still registered and hopefully tucked up in a warm garage and well looked after.

The thing is that most of these cars now are worth too much to use as daily drivers, so they only come out at Club meets and car shows.
Others are squirrelled away in "investment barns" and never see the light of day.

Guy near me has a Lotus Carlton, Ferrari 328 and RS2000 in his barn (lucky sod!)

None of them ever move.

Ford Momdeo

Ok, there’s a family who live behind me who have two, so I do see those one’s quite a lot, but Ford said they were going to stop making the Mondeo and they just seemed to disappear overnight and everyone started driving Kuga’s

I remember the Escort was similar. It was everywhere and then it just disappeared from the roads.

Yeah Rashers, the Mondeo just seems to have vanished in the last couple of years, not sure if that is down to a very few registered new. Sierra is another on that went the way the escort too. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

There were loads in the fleet / leasing market which means that there are probably 10’s of thousands herring bone parked on a Cold War air field somewhere rotting to bits.

We all have our niggles at JLR but I think Ford have lost their way. When I was an apprentice, company cars were a Ford, BL Rover or Vauxhall. Our company Fleet were Escort Vans, A P100, Fiesta Vans, Escorts Sierras and the MD had a Granada. Unless you lived in Luton Laughing every other car to me seemed to be a Ford. I have a Fiesta, but I hardly know anyone who owns a Ford these days. The Focus was a popular motor but I can’t remember seeing many of those about either recently. The Fiesta is still a popular motor, but Ford killed that off. I just wonder where they are going. Vivaro’s seem to outnumber the good old transit 4 to 1 as well. If they think we will all be selling our Fiesta’s and buying the electric Mustang, I think they are on a hiding to nowhere.

Laughing

Mum had a 1985 Mini which had to be de-tuned at every MOT so it hardly ran to get it through the emissions test.

Made a mockery of the MOT really

Some of these 1970’s / 1980’s crates are going to be really rare. Chevette any one?

(The iPhone tries to auto correct Chevette to Cheese Laughing )

I like watching Bangers and Cash. Every so often there are cars from my childhood and youth on there. There were a couple of Opel Manta’s being sold on the one I watched the other night. Oh, the sixteen year old in me so wanted an Opel Manta if I couldn’t have a 2.8i Capri.

The Ford Puma was the best selling car in the U.K. last year. But it was the only Ford in the top 10. Second was the Nissan Qashqai and third the Vauxhall Corsa

Common as muck Laughing They made a lot of them by supercar standards. I saw one fueling up in Rochdale last year! I chatted to the driver, even asked if it was genuine and not a kit, I wasn't sure if he'd be offended! It was genuine and had got into a very rough state, being used regularly on track, so had just come back from a full restoration at Ferrari in Italy.

funny you say that about ford, i watched a video on what was the most scrapped manufacture, in the scrappage scheme. It turned out to be ford. 70,000 units next up was Vauxhall, at 40,000. That's a massive difference if you ask me. Think ford lost their way after the cosworth days, sadly. My mate did buy an escort, on an R plate, and we both own and owned better cars. He a Rover 25 about 10 years ago, and he said that was an all round better car, my peugeot 306 is also an all round better car too, than the escort too. Focus though is a different story. I think the electric Mustang has replaced the Mondae by the looks of it, and the Puma i think will replace the Focus and Fiesta. I read that Ford binned off the KA back in 2021, which was a 90s car. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I think anything from that era of vauxhall has got to be practically extinct! The Nova i think is the only ones to survive from that time line. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
