Really. I'd be surprised that after the defenders demise there wasn't someone who bought the patterns and continued to make the panels etc and even the full vehicle.

Hello Peter, my dealer is Hammonds at Halesworth. I have been dealing with them for a number of years now. I have approached Hunters in Norwich on a few occasions and just found them to be so expensive and pretty unhelpful to be honest.

As for the 2.2, we shall see, I think I am right in saying that my DC XS is the first of the 'new breed' to ship out of Hammonds so nobody really is able to give an opinion on the engine as yet. I shall be in a better position to comment after I have driven home tomorrow morning. Very Happy

I nearly went for another 2.4, but I was sold on the fact that the engine apparently is a lot quieter and more refined - quite what refinements they mean, I have no idea. Plus my last 2.4 DC XS was a nightmare, it spent more time being repaired than actually working, so I fancied a change.

All will be revealed tomorrow!

I tried both Hunters and Hammonds, and eventually went all the way to Lookers in Colchester to get my XS90.

As you have said, Hunters are pretty unhelpful, and Hammonds were completely uninterested in having a deal, whereas Lookers were cheaper than both, helpful and actually quite enthusiastic about Defenders, which was a refreshing change.

Pete

Just collected my new toy. Orkney Grey XS 110 DC 2.2, fantastic, I don't know if I can tell if its any quieter than the 2.4, maybe slightly.
I shall endeavour to put some photos up as soon as I can. Big grin on my face at the moment. Very Happy
